With two books already in publication, Hrefna has become a best-selling author in Iceland.

#1 Fiskmarkaðurinn 

Shortly after the initial success of Fiskmarkaðurinn, the publishers at Salka Publishing House approached Hrefna because they wanted to capture Hrefna’s essence, the atmosphere of the restaurant, and the mouth-watering recipies behind the menu.

The outcome was this beautiful book, available both in Icelandic and English, with stunning visuals by photographer Kristján Maack. Included as a course on Fiskmarkaðurinn main menu, the book is a best-selling item, since foreign dinner guests are eager to bring a piece of Hrefna to their own kitchen experiments.

Grillréttir Hagkaups was published in 2012 and instantly became a best-seller. No wonder, since the book includes 230 recepies from Hrefna’s magic chamber of mixes and matches, focusing on the art of grilling.

Creating 230 new recipies for the common kitchen use was a great adventure. Admittedly, a considerable amount of the recipies constitutes of marinades and sauces, but still ... they were supposed to be 230 in total! It wasn’t until we started the photo shoot that I actually tried many of the recipies for the first time. And voilà – they all tasted great.
